Haiku as a Zen art form is most interesting in revealing patterns (Li). Basho, the wandering Japanese Taoist poet... sought to lead others to see the Li or Pattern as a flash or sudden insight.... Basho, like most of Li or Pattern School sought always to be at one with nature and the four seasons, each poem expressing a sudden vivid awareness that comes from this harmony with Tao.
