Tonga, a Polynesian kingdom of more than 170 islands, many uninhabited, most lined in white beaches and coral reefs and covered with tropical rainforest.
Tonga's national climate plan is outlined in the Joint National Action Plan 2 on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management (JNAP 2) for 2018-2028, which aims to achieve a Resilient Tonga by 2035 through adaptation and disaster risk management strategies. The plan includes commitments to increase renewable energy use and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
