Recognition of the Ocean View Community Garden
WHEREAS, the Albany City Council approved the design for Ocean View Park in March 2006; and
WHEREAS, a Community Garden was created as part of the Ocean View Park design; and
WHEREAS, the Ocean View Community Garden is intended for the use and enjoyment of the Albany community to grow organic produce, herbs, flowers and fruit, and for fostering a sense of community; and
WHEREAS, the Albany Recreation and Community Services Department will oversee the Community Garden; and
WHEREAS, the Ocean View Community Garden will be operated by volunteers; and
WHEREAS, the Ocean View Community Garden Plot holders will abide by the City's Integrated Pest Management practices,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council recognize the establishment of the Ocean View Community Garden and hereby authorizes the Parks and Recreation Commission to establish guidelines for the operation of the garden, and the Recreation & Community Services Department to manage implementation of the guidelines.
