SJS: Recalling the beginnings of the U.S. Green Party
<big>'''''"Who Founded the Green Party in the United States?"'''''</big>

Although the U.S. Green Party has changed far from its founding platform and Green values, its policies and positions, here '''Green Horizon Magazine''' looks back at the origins of the Green Party.
: by John Rensenbrink, Professor Emeritus, History & Politics, Bowdoin College

John Rensenbrink speaks of those who did the organizing and those who attempted to block the organizing.

Engaged, positive Green Party politics, coalition building, far reaching progressive solutions remain far off as the cooption of the U.S. Green Party by an ideological cadre has become an ongoing problem blocking constructive green political action.

The proposal was accepted and state parties moved forward with national organizing based on his plan. Steve chaired a new Platform committee from 1995 to 2001, during which time he structured and drafted a significant amount of the founding platform (which can be found at https://www.greenpolicy360.net/w/Category:Green_Platform). The official, founding U.S. Green Party Platform was an integral part of the subsequent successful submission to the FEC for national committee/party status.
