An ordinance authorizing the Metropolitan Police Department to accept the donation of original paintings and drawings by local artists for display in the Domestic Violence Division.


WHEREAS, a community advocate against family violence has coordinated the donation of original paintings and drawings to the Domestic Violence Division of the Metropolitan Police Department; and

WHEREAS, Brenda Brown has organized a donation of 42 pieces of art by local artists, 3 sculpture stands, and 6 frames, with a total value of $45,295 as detailed in an attachment (Exhibit A) to this ordinance; and

WHEREAS, the artwork is being donated to the Metropolitan Police Department for display in the Domestic Violence Division to provide comfort to those who are assisted by the services of that division; and

WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interest of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and its citizens to accept the donation of this artwork for display in the Domestic Violence Division;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the donation of 42 pieces of art from local artists, 3 sculpture stands, and 6 frames valued at $45,295 to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for the purpose of displaying in the Domestic Violence Division of the Metropolitan Police Department is hereby accepted.

SECTION 4. That this ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
