Resolution No. 112-2008
A resolution of intent to create the Euclid Foreclosure Prevention Committee comprised of Euclid City Council members, members of the Administration and other Community professionals to develop strategies to inform, educate and assist residents in dealing with foreclosure and to strengthen the housing market, increase property values and explore approaches to reduce the number of foreclosed homes in Euclid.

WHEREAS, national statistics show that 1 out of every 200 homes will be foreclosed. Every three months, nationally 250,000 new families enter into foreclosure and there are an excessive amount of foreclosed homes on the market available for purchase; and,

WHEREAS, it is necessary to provide the public with education about home ownership, information to prevent foreclosure, and assistance if foreclosure has commenced, and;

WHEREAS, the City has partnered with Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Cleveland (NHS) to provide such programs, and;

WHEREAS, the City of Euclid seeks additional resources to coordinate with NHS and to supplement their efforts to assist residents facing foreclosure; and

WHEREAS, the City of Euclid desires grass-root involvement of members of the community to develop strategies for dealing with the foreclosure crisis that residents of the city are facing; and

WHEREAS, the Euclid Foreclosure Prevention Committee will develop strategies to increase property values and to strengthen the housing market in the City of Euclid.

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Council of the City of Euclid, State of Ohio:

Section 1: To create the Euclid Foreclosure Prevention Committee comprised of Euclid City Council members, members of the Administration and other Community professionals to develop strategies to inform, educate and assist residents in dealing with foreclosure and to strengthen the housing market, increase property values and explore approaches to reduce the number of foreclosed homes in Euclid.

Section 2: That it is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the adoption of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all deliberations of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in such formal action, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements, including Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.

Section 3: That this resolution shall take immediate effect.
