Illinois State University "Reggie Ride" Program
Type: Program
Status: Launched in 2008

Description:
Every year the Grounds Department collects upwards of 100 or more bikes that students leave behind when they move out. In the past, bikes that were not claimed after a year were donated for auction. This year is different. With the help of an ISU student, who is also a Vitesse bike mechanic, we were able to select 25 bikes to paint and repair for use in Reggie Ride. The goal of the program is to provide members of the ISU community with more alternative transportation options on campus.
REGGIE RIDE provides FREE bicycle use to ISU students, faculty and staff. All you need is your ISU Student ID or Faculty/Staff ID. Bikes are available in a variety of sizes. All bikes are equipped with a bike lock. Bicycle helmets are not provided but are recommended. Bikers must follow all state and local bicycle laws.
Red Bike Check-out
Students, faculty and staff can check bikes out at the Bowling and Billiards Center. Sunday – Thursday bikes may be rented for 24 hours. Friday and Saturday, bikes may be rented for 48 hours. As there are a limited number of bikes, they are available to rent on a first come, first serve basis.
Departmental White Bikes
In an effort to reduce traffic on campus during work hours and to encourage healthy, active lifestyles, a departmental bike rental program is being piloted. Departmental White bikes are available at select buildings on campus. Each bike is equipped with a basket and lock.
There are currently 11 bikes in the departmental pilot.
As the program grows and bike usage per building is evaluated, more bikes may be available in the spring semester. If your department is interested in participating please email The Green Team.
- Reggie Ride is a collaborative effort of Facilities Management, the College of Applied Science and Technology, the Dean of Students office, the University Health Education Coordinating Committee, and the Green Team.
