Marina Silva of Brazil Makes Headlines: Surges to Front in Campaign for President of Brasil
News from the Frontlines
Visionary green political leader Marina Silva is running for President of Brazil — and has a real chance of winning.
Marina is a green who has led many environmental initiatives, including keynoting at the Bioneers conference in California. The Bioneers keynote offered an extraordinary vision of a new kind of politics grounded in sustainability and social and economic justice.
While she was in the US, talks included the possibility of bringing Bioneers to Brazil, about which she was enthusiastic. The Bioneers arranged a meeting with her, Danny Glover and representatives from Amazon Watch and the Indigenous Environmental Network.
If Marina wins, it will be a game-changer for the global politics of sustainability and justice.
